Pullach, August 2, 2023 – SIXT is cooperating with the manufacturer of electric cargo bikes ONOMOTION. As part of a pilot project running in Berlin, SIXT is the first mobility provider in Germany to include the ONO e-cargo bikes in its commercial vehicle fleet. From now on, the e-cargo bikes will be available to both corporate and private customers as a sustainable and space-saving transport alternative for inner-city goods traffic.

As part of the pilot project, SIXT is offering the first ONO e-cargo bikes in Berlin, after which it plans to expand the cooperation to other German cities. The cargo space of the electric Cargobikes consists of an exchangeable container module that holds a volume of two cubic meters and can be loaded with up to 200 kilograms of payload. As the ONO e-cargo bikes have weather protection for riders, they can be used all year round.

E-cargo bikes as a sustainable, space-saving fleet addition

Through the cooperation with ONOMOTION, SIXT once again relies on an innovative solution for sustainable mobility. Riders are supported by an electric drive, which is why the ONO e-cargo bikes are operated CO2-neutrally. With pedal assistance, the electric cargo bikes reach a speed of up to 25 km/h and have a range of approximately 30 kilometers on one battery charge. Since the batteries are replaceable, additional batteries can be taken along and the range can thus be increased. SIXT uses the latest edition of the ONO e-cargo bikes.

With these specifications, the ONO e-cargo bikes are suitable for both business and private use. Private customers can use the e-cargo bikes, for example, as a sustainable option for transporting larger items such as crates of drinks, weekend shopping or large-volume items from the DIY store. For SIXT business customers, the e-cargo bikes are an ideal addition to their own fleet. The electric cargo bikes can be used for last-mile transport by courier express parcel service providers as well as by craft businesses, in facility management or for transporting food in cool boxes. With the electric cargo bikes, companies make themselves less dependent on possible entry restrictions in city centers. The ONO e-cargo bikes can use bicycle lanes, require less parking space than vans, and thus experience greater acceptance in urban delivery traffic. Another advantage: Since no driver’s license is required for the e-cargo bikes, it is easier to find qualified drivers.

Lars-Eric Peters, Senior Vice President DACH, SIXT Van & Truck: “With the ONO e-cargo bikes, we provide our customers with a flexible and sustainable vehicle for urban transport. Due to our shared values, ONOMOTION is the perfect partner for us: We wholeheartedly support the traffic shift towards sustainable mobility and focus on innovative solutions.”

Beres Seelbach, Co-CEO at ONOMOTION: “Our goal is to develop new solutions to help shape the transformation of urban mobility and thereby sustainably increase the common good. With SIXT as a strong partner, we want to give even more companies the opportunity to see the benefits of e-cargo bikes as a complement to urban transportation.”

When renting e-cargo bikes through SIXT, customers benefit from the usual flexibility and peace of mind. The electric cargo bikes can be booked at very attractive conditions for a rental period from just one day. Maintenance and service are already included in the rental price for long-term rentals. In addition, the e-cargo bikes can be customized for longer periods of use, for example with individual exterior branding. Additional batteries can also be booked, as can delivery of the ONO e-cargo bikes to the customer.

You can find more information and booking options here and in the SIXT app. The ONO E-Cargobikes can be picked up at the SIXT Berlin Truck Center at Kurt-Schumacher-Dam 176.
